After Her Chief Of Staff Quit, The FBI Just Sent AOC Bombshell News

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was smacked with bombshell news in recent days that could result in her only serving one term in office.

And things just got even worse for the New York socialist lawmaker.

Late last week, AOC’s chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti and her communications director, Corbin Trent, both resigned to “pursue other opportunities.”

Now, just a few days later, the FBI is investigating alleged campaign finance misconduct by Ocasio-Cortez campaign and Chakrabarti, according to the New York Post.

The probe focuses on two political action committees started by Chakrabarti.

Here’s more from the Post:

The two PACs being probed, Brand New Congress and Justice Democrats, were both set up by Chakrabarti to support progressive candidates across the country.

But they funneled more than $1 million in political donations into two private companies that Chakrabarti also incorporated and controlled, according to Federal Election Commission filings and a complaint filed in March with the regulatory agency.

In 2016 and 2017, the PACs raised about $3.3 million, mostly from small donors. A third of the cash was transferred to two private companies whose names are similar to one of the PACs — Brand New Congress LLC and Brand New Campaign LLC — federal campaign filings show.

Several members of AOC’s staff are abandoning ship and getting out while they still can — including two top officials who played a big role in helping her get elected last fall.

“Saikat has decided to leave the office of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to work with New Consensus to further develop plans for a Green New Deal,” Trent said.

“We are extraordinarily grateful for his service to advance a bold agenda and improve the lives of the people in NY-14. From his co-founding of Justice Democrats to his work on the Ocasio-Cortez campaign and in the official office,” he added.

“Saikat’s goal has always been to do whatever he can to help the larger progressive movement, and we look forward to continuing working with him to do just that,” Trent continued.

While the liberal media is brushing this off as no big deal, Chakrabarti’s departure may not be a coincidence.

In recent months, AOC and Chakrabarti have found themselves in legal trouble for violating ethics rules.

On top of that, Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti “could be facing jail time” if their control over Justice Democrats, a far-left PAC, was intentionally hidden.

Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti “obtained majority control of Justice Democrats PAC in December 2017, according to archived copies of the group’s website, and the two appear to retain their control of the group.”

Former FEC commissioner Brad Smith said earlier this year that if “a complaint were filed, I would think it would trigger a serious investigation,” adding that both Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti “could be facing jail time.”

With all of this considered, it’s not surprising that Chakrabarti abruptly resigned.

And with the federal government investigating very serious allegations against Chakrabarti and her campaign, AOC’s political future could be in serious jeopardy.
