Barack Obama Will ‘Step In’ If This 1 Candidate Secures Dem Nomination

For almost three years, former President Barack Obama has sat back and stewed over President Donald Trump dismantling his disastrous legacy.

Obama will do almost anything to see Trump defeated. He has been working with operatives on a plan to have congressional districts redrawn in several swing states before the 2020 election.

But according to a recent report, the former president is incredibly “displeased” with the current 2020 Democratic field.

And if the Democratic Party were to nominate a socialist candidate like Sen. Bernie Sanders for the 2020 election, he plans to “step in” and “fight it.”

Politico’s Ryan Lizza published a lengthy report this week detailing how Obama plans to “raise his voice” if he sees the Democratic Party moving too far Left.

“Back when Sanders seemed like more of a threat than he does now, Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him,” Politico reported.

Lizza reports that sources from Obama’s inner circle told him that the former president doesn’t see Sanders as a Democrat.

If Obama begins to feel that someone like Sanders will snag the nomination, he will act as a “guardrail” for his party.

“He hasn’t said that directly to me,” a source said to Lizza. “The only reason I’m hesitating at all is because, yeah, if Bernie were running away with it, I think maybe we would all have to say something. But I don’t think that’s likely. It’s not happening.”

“Bernie’s not a Democrat,” another source noted.

But there have been hints that Obama is steering the Democratic party away from nominating or even, for that matter, tolerating Democratic socialists within its ranks. At a meeting of top Democratic fundraisers in early November, Obama cautioned the party from moving too far left — a shift he seems to believe will cost them the 2020 election.

“Even as we push the envelope and we are bold in our vision, we also have to be rooted in reality,” Obama said. “The average American doesn’t think we have to completely tear down the system and remake it.”

This isn’t the only shocking revelation that came from the Politico report.

They also revealed that Obama doesn’t think his former Vice President Joe Biden has what it takes to beat Trump in 2020.

“Ostensibly the meetings are for the aspiring candidates to gain some wisdom from the last Democrat to win an open presidential primary and the presidency, but they also allow Obama to collect his own intelligence about what he and his closest advisers have made clear is all that matters to him: who can beat Donald Trump,” Politico reports.

Politico then highlighted how Obama doesn’t think Joe Biden has “it”:

Sometimes he offers candid advice about his visitors’ strengths and weaknesses. With several lesser-known candidates, according to people who have talked to him or been briefed on his meetings, he was blunt about the challenges of breaking out of a large field.

His advice is not always heeded. Occasionally, he can be cutting. With one candidate, he pointed out that during his own 2008 campaign, he had an intimate bond with the electorate, especially in Iowa, that he no longer has.

Then he added, “And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden.”

It was reported back in August that Obama told Biden, who served as his vice president for eight years, that running for president would be the biggest mistake of his life.
