When a top Democrat is caught in a sex scandal it should make headline news, but during the coronavirus pandemic there has not been a ton of time for anything else.
But somehow it is tough to believe that if this scandal involved a top Republican it would not be on the top of the news network’s shows.
Andrew Gillum, who attempted to become the governor of Florida but was defeated by Gov. Ron DeSantis, was caught in a hotel room with more than drugs.
He was caught with an openly gay male escort Travis Dyson and bags of possible crystal meth, the Miami Herald reported.
“Police say they were called to the Mondrian South Beach early Friday morning and found paramedics treating Travis Dyson, a 30-year-old Miami man, for an apparent heart attack. They say two other men were in the room: Aldo Mejias and Gillum,” the Herald said.
“Police say Gillum, who was not arrested, was too intoxicated to answer questions. An offense incident report says that officers found three clear plastic baggies of suspected crystal meth on the bed and floor,” t said.
Gillum had an excuse for it, but it did not really explain why he was in a hotel room with a man who has described himself as “pornstar performer” who offered “gay massage,” The New York Post reported.
“I was in Miami last night for a wedding celebration when first responders were called to assist one of my friends. While I had too much to drink, I want to be clear that I have never used methamphetamines,” Gillum said.
“I apologize to the people of Florida for the distraction this has caused our movement,” they said.
But the gay, pornstar and male escort that he was found with said he did not know about a wedding.
“I personally was not celebrating a wedding. I don’t know if [Gillum] was in town for a wedding. He did not mention that,” Dyson said to the Miami New Times.
“We’ve been friends for a while,” he said before he stopped answering questions and then would not answer any more calls from the Times.
This is not a laughing matter. Lives were on the line and it is a sad situation. But why is the mainstream television media barely covering this story?
As The New York Post reported, Dyson had a profile on a gay escort website and what he had written on it does not have him looking like a person a politician and family man should be around.
“I like kissing and foreplay… lots of kissing and foreplay. I enjoy my nipple rings lightly played with. Mutual touch and intimacy goes a long way,” he said.
There was no mention of Florida politics on his page.
