Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez often boasts about her “power” and how she is the leader of the Democratic Party.
But Democrats are getting a taste of their own medicine after they took President Donald Trump to court for a ridiculous reason earlier this year.
Ocasio-Cortez is currently being sued by two individuals for blocking them on Twitter.
While AOC has tried to get out of having to appear in court, Brooklyn Federal Judge Frederic Block just ordered her to make an appearance and testify under oath.
During a court appearance this week, an aide to Ocasio-Cortez said the freshman congresswoman blocks people on Twitter if their input isn’t “constructive.”
Campaign manager Rebecca Rodriguez laid out Ocasio-Cortez’s online habits as part of a hearing in a lawsuit filed by former Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who claims the Democratic darling wrongfully blocked him online over his “criticism” of her.
Hikind, a longtime Jewish leader, is among more than 20 people Ocasio-Cortez has muted online, a decision she makes “if she feels the posts start reaching a point where it’s not constructive, where it’s an attack and where the person becomes so polarizing that she cannot have a conversation with them and they’re amplifying their platform,” explained Rodriguez.
She added that it was Ocasio-Cortez’s “judgment call” to block Hikind but said she did not know the exact reason behind the decision.
But Brooklyn federal Judge Frederic Block wants to hear directly from the prolific tweeter herself.
“I think she has to testify,” the judge said. “Her point is that this was an A-OK thing to do … she has to explain.”
AOC thought she could just send an aide to appear on her behalf in court — and the judge was not having it.
Ocasio-Cortez being ordered to testify stemmed from a ruling from a liberal appeals court against President Donald Trump earlier this summer.
Hikind filed a lawsuit against Ocasio-Cortez in federal court for blocking users on Twitter based on their personal viewpoints.
The lawsuit came hours after the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Trump is legally prohibited from blocking users on Twitter.
The liberal federal appeals court ruled that because Trump uses his personal Twitter account to communicate with the public about his administration, all users have a First Amendment right to see his tweets.
This anti-Trump ruling resulted in AOC getting hit with the lawsuit because she has been blocking conservative outlets and reporters on Twitter for quite awhile.
YouTube star and NY-11 Republican Congressional candidate Joey Saladino also filed a separate lawsuit against AOC following the appellate ruling, saying she blocked him after he announced his candidacy in May.
“I’m suing AOC because we need to be able to have a strong and vigorous debate between the parties, otherwise our fragile system of ideas and representation breaks down,” Saladino said in a statement.
He added: “Though she is not in a position of power, she is the voice of her generation of Democrat voters, and bigger than some of the Presidential candidates.”
The hilarious part is that a liberal court delivered a ruling against Trump that actually harms AOC and Democrats.
The anti-Trump ruling from the liberal federal appeals court now means that Ocasio-Cortez is in violation of the U.S. Constitution and must unblock all of these users.
She will also be prohibited from blocking users just because she doesn’t like what they are saying.
Amazing to see how one anti-Trump ruling just backfired so badly that AOC got hit with two lawsuits and has been ordered to testify in federal court.
