Ginsburg Makes Shock Decision On AOC’s Demand To Abolish Electoral College

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg stunned Democrats this week and ended their latest pipe dream.

While speaking Monday at the University of Chicago, the 86-year-old liberal justice smacked down an idea from socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to abolish the Electoral College.

RBG said Americans should focus on change that is realistic rather than going after something as radical as abolishing the system used for hundreds of years to decide the winner of presidential elections in the United States.

“It’s largely a dream because our Constitution is hard to amend,” Ginsburg said. “I know that from experience.”

Ginsburg’s remarks came after Ocasio-Cortez toured Iowa last month and mocked the Electoral College.

“We’re coming to you live from the Electoral College,” she said on an Instagram Live story as she recorded an empty desert highway. “Many votes here as you can see – [it’s a] very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I mean, I can’t think of any other way, can you?”

The self-proclaimed “radical” congresswoman attempted to make several intersecting arguments on why the Electoral College should be abolished, all of which were based on the underlying idea that the American voting system is racist and therefore discriminatory against minorities.

“The Electoral College has a racial injustice breakdown,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Due to severe racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color as opposed to a ‘one person, one vote’ system where all are counted equally.”

Ginsburg is arguably the most liberal justice on the Supreme Court.

The fact that she is against Ocasio-Cortez’s idea of abolishing the Electoral College is a big deal — and it likely won’t sit well with Democrats.

As crazy as it may seem, this isn’t the only bad news that Ocasio-Cortez has been hit with recently.

Last month, it was revealed that only 10 individuals living in her district in the first half of 2019 donated to her campaign.

AOC and her former Chief of Staff Saikat Chakrabarti have also found themselves in legal trouble for violating ethics rules.

They “could be facing jail time” if their control over Justice Democrats, a far-left PAC, was intentionally hidden.

Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti “obtained majority control of Justice Democrats PAC in December 2017, according to archived copies of the group’s website, and the two appear to retain their control of the group.”

Former FEC commissioner Brad Smith said that if “a complaint were filed, I would think it would trigger a serious investigation,” adding that both Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti “could be facing jail time.”

“At minimum, there’s a lot of smoke there, and if there are really only three board members and she and [Chakrabarti] are two of them, sure looks like you can see the blaze. I don’t really see any way out of it,” Smith said.

Things have gotten so bad for Ocasio-Cortez that Ginsburg is even against her radical ideas.
