House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Tuesday that the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives will officially begin an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump over a phone call the president had with the Ukrainian President-elect back in July.
One day after Pelosi’s announcement, the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives voted 421-0 for a resolution calling on Trump to release the whistleblower complaint to Congress.
The resolution, which was undoubtedly a political stunt, was passed despite the Trump administration letting lawmakers view the classified document at secure locations in the U.S. Capitol.
Two House members voted present and 10 did not vote.
The document is central to the impeachment inquiry into the Republican president announced on Tuesday by the Democratic House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, after reports that Trump had tried to put pressure on Ukraine’s president to help smear a political rival.
The Senate passed a similar resolution by unanimous voice vote.
Republicans joined Democrats in backing the release of the document, after many lawmakers argued that Trump’s associates were defying a law calling for whistleblower complaints to be sent to Congress if they are found to be credible.
Democrats and the media have been going ballistic over a phone call Trump had with the Ukrainian president-elect back in July.
On this call, Trump reportedly asked the foreign leader to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, over shady business dealings with a Ukrainian gas company.
The White House also released a 5-page transcript of the call, which does not mention anything about “quid pro quo” or the U.S. withholding aid to Ukraine if they did not investigate Biden.
The Department of Justice announced on Tuesday evening that it opted not to investigate Trump over the phone call.
The Department of Justice’s Criminal Division “reviewed the official record of the call and determined, based on the facts and applicable law, that there was no campaign finance violation and that no further action was warranted,” DOJ spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said.
Kupec said all “relevant components of the Department agreed with this legal conclusion, and the Department has concluded the matter.”
In less than 24 hours, Pelosi’s impeachment plans have imploded.
Late on Tuesday night, a bombshell report dropped on Fox News that the alleged “whistleblower” who filed a complaint against Trump is biased against him.
During a segment on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, network contributor Ed Henry reported that the Office of Intelligence Community Inspector General found that the “whistleblower” had a “political bias” in favor of one of Trump’s rivals in the 2020 presidential election.
Democrats allege Trump is violating the law by refusing to hand over the IG report to Congress, which is why Pelosi claims Democrats will begin an impeachment inquiry.
But it turns out that this “whistleblower” — which Democrats are placing all of their faith in — has a clear bias against Trump and supports a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate.
Here’s the cherry on top: the whistleblower who filed the complaint did not even hear the phone call between Trump and the Ukrainian president.
That’s right — this so-called whistleblower filed a complaint about a call that they never heard, and Democrats are demanding Trump be impeached over a call that they also never heard.
This has also led to extreme calls from Republicans to investigate a shady deal involving Biden, his son, and Ukraine.
