While Mayor de Blasio was speaking, Nadler seemed to collapse in his chair and faint or blackout – he was certainly disoriented. Ambulances we called and he seems to be ok.
From The Washington Examiner: Rep. Jerry Nadler, who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and is leading several investigations into President Trump’s conduct, fell ill during a press conference he was hosting with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
The New York Democrat was attended to by medical personnel, and the room was cleared. Reporters at the press conference said he was given water, an orange, and appears to be OK.
Nadler and de Blasio were slated to speak at the news conference about speeding cameras in New York City. Nadler represents the Upper West Side of Manhattan, a liberal enclave, and parts of Brooklyn.
As House Judiciary Committee chairman, Nadler has been a virulent critic of Trump, suggesting impeachment may be necessary in light of the Mueller report’s findings on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign. Nadler would preside over any potential impeachment proceedings.
From Pix11: Video of the episode shows Mayor Bill de Blasio offering Nadler water after the congressman’s head tilted forward.
The chairman of the House Judiciary committee had given remarks at an event about speed enforcement cameras in school zones when he slumped in his chair on Friday.
Moments later he seemed to recover. He was speaking and appeared alert, telling people near him that he was OK.
The 71-year-old Democrat was given water and an orange to eat.
Staff cleared reporters from the school gymnasium where the event was taking place.
An ambulance was called and was standing by.
“He is okay. Seems to have been dehydrated and it was very warm in the room. He is now responsive and receiving a check-up,” a Nadler spokesperson said.
