House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are still ramming ahead with a bogus impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump’s July 25 phone call with the president of Ukraine.
After weeks of sending subpoenas to dozens of people in the White House and Trump administration, Pelosi is surrendering and waving the white flag of defeat.
The California Democrat just rescinded a subpoena for former Trump adviser Charles Kupperman to testify in the impeachment inquiry, giving the president another victory.
Kupperman responded to the subpoena with a lawsuit, daring Democrats to try him.
Democrats balked and backed down.
“The subpoena at issue in this matter has been withdrawn, and there is no current intention to reissue it,” Democrats wrote in court filings.
On October 25, Kupperman, who served as a top aide for White House national security adviser John Bolton at the White House National Security Council (NSC), filed a lawsuit essentially asking the courts to rule on whether he should abide by the House Democrat’s subpoena, citing concerns that his testimony would inflict Constitutional damage on either the House or executive branch.
Acknowledging that the lawsuit may take so long to settle that Kupperman may not have to testify, Democrats who want to rush the partisan impeachment inquiry pulled the subpoena.
Democrats have indicated they want to vote on impeachment by Christmas. The leaders of the House Committees on Oversight and Reform, Intelligence, and Foreign Affairs conducting the impeachment inquiry attributed Kupperman’s subpoena defiance to “White House obstruction,” in an October 26 statement.
Kupperman is considered a prominent witness since he was on the infamous July 25 call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, considered the crux of the impeachment inquiry.
Not only did Democrats not want to engage in the legal battle, but they also don’t have the time to do it.
Democrats are hell-bent on pushing impeachment through the House, and they need to act quickly to do that.
The longer the battle goes on, the worse the chances of success get for Democrats.
In recent weeks, we have already seen that there are major cracks in their case.
Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking minority member of House Intelligence Committee, called on Rep. Adam Schiff to testify before the committee about his interaction with the so-called Ukraine “whistleblower” as part of the impeachment inquiry.
Late last week, Schiff got busted spreading a verifiable lie about one of his impeachment witnesses.
Tim Morrison, the departing Senior Director of European and Russian Affairs under Trump, testified that he listened to Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky.
Morrison said the president did not discuss anything illegal during the conversation.
Schiff, who released a transcript of Morrison’s testimony this week, cherry-picked what Morrison had said and claimed he confirmed that Trump threatened to withhold Ukraine’s aid unless they investigated Biden.
Schiff is so incompetent that he recently released a transcript with the name of the alleged whistleblower.
We also learned last week that Eric Ciaramella is the “whistleblower” who filed a complaint over Trump’s Ukraine phone call.
Ciaramella is: (1) a registered Democrat; (2) worked for Obama and Joe Biden when they were in the White House; (3) is a vocal critic of Trump; (4) helped initiate the Russia “collusion” hoax; and (5) was fired from the National Security Council in 2017 for leaks, and returned to the CIA.
