Democrats are ramping up their efforts to remove Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell from office.
Democratic lawmakers are appearing on left-wing cable news programs every day demanding McConnell recuse himself from the looming Senate impeachment trial.
Now, two Democrats — Amy McGrath and Mike Broihier — have announced that they had filed the necessary paperwork to stand as Senate candidates against McConnell in 2020.
“Honored to have Martha Layne Collins, the first and only woman governor of Kentucky, and my mom, one of the first women to graduate from UK med school, to sign my papers as I filed to run for Senate,” McGrath tweeted.
McGrath failed to unseat Kentucky Republican incumbent Andy Barr in the 2018 midterm elections.
McGrath claims she will “win by talking about those bread-and-butter issues that Kentuckians really care about,” adding, “And that’s what I’m going to be talking about over and over again.”
Broihier is a farmer, former journalist, and served for two decades as an officer in the Marine Corps. His website declares him to be a supporter of abortion rights as well as stronger gun control measures.
“As a retired Marine and artilleryman, I know what firepower is required on the battlefield,” Broihier states. “As a father, a grandfather, a farmer, a teacher, and a civilian, I know what firepower isn’t necessary on the streets of our country.”

Democrats are gunning for McConnell this election cycle from multiple fronts.
One day after the Democratic-majority voted to impeach President Donald Trump in the House, liberal lawmakers immediately called for McConnell to recuse himself from the Senate impeachment trial.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi is refusing to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate, but Democrats already want McConnell to recuse himself from a trial in the upper chamber that has not even happened yet.
Trump is not even officially impeached. The House must send the articles of impeachment to the Senate in order for it to become official.
Beyond that, obviously this is nothing more than Democrats trying to cry foul before impeachment dies in the Senate.
There’s a zero percent chance that McConnell recuses himself because he has absolutely no reason to.
Democrats are complaining about McConnell possibly holding an unfair investigation, but that’s literally what Democrats just did for three months.
When Democrats hold Soviet-style trials and limit the other side from having any say at all — there’s no problem at all.
But almost one month before the impeachment trial likely moves into the Senate — Democrats are whining, issuing ridiculous demands, and already claiming the process is “rigged.”
Finally, the other team is up to bat and Democrats are screaming that the trial — which has not even happened — it totally unfair.
This is another example proving Democrats have no case.
They have accused Trump of just about everything imaginable, and after months of wasting taxpayer dollars to hold impeachment hearings, they still can’t prove the president did anything wrong.
And McConnell has already revealed exactly what’s going to happen when the impeachment trial moves into the Senate.
