(Judicial Watch) – Judicial Watch announced today it received 339 pages of heavily redacted records from the U.S. Department of Justice which reveal that former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr remained in regular contact with former British spy and Fusion GPS contractor Christopher Steele after Steele was terminated by the FBI in November 2016 for revealing to the media his position as an FBI confidential informant.
The records show that Ohr served as a go-between for Steele by passing along information to “his colleagues” on matters relating to Steele’s activities. Ohr also set up meetings with Steele, regularly talked to him on the telephone and provided him assistance in dealing with situations Steele was confronting with the media.
“These documents leave no doubt that for more than a year after the FBI fired Christopher Steele for leaking, and for some 10 months after Donald Trump was sworn in as president, Bruce Ohr continued to act as a go-between for Steele with the FBI and Justice Department. The anti-Trump Russia investigation, now run by Robert Mueller, has been thoroughly compromised by this insider corruption.”
Opinion: The discovery of these documents raise serious concerns about the tactics and intentions that special counsel Robert Mueller has been employing.
We already were aware of the role Ohr played as an FBI intermediary between Fusion-GPS, Chris Steele and the FBI during the original counterintelligence investigation, and that information flow continued even after Steele was officially dismissed by the FBI for violating rules regarding confidential informants.
The new documents go beyond even that and reveal that Ohr continued funneling Steele’s opposition research directly to the special counsel.
Essentially, Team Mueller was continuing to accept input from Christopher Steele despite the fact that he had been discredited nearly a year prior and the FBI had severed their official ties with him for cause.
What was Mueller’s reason for this if not being based in the politics of damaging the Trump presidency?
If Mueller believed that Steele’s dossier contained even a modicum of truth, why didn’t he subpoena the “former” British spy to testify before prosecutors?
The fact that Mueller didn’t seek to question Steele directly and under oath, and was content to rely on an intermediary, strongly suggests that Mueller was aware that he was likely chasing biased “evidence” that wouldn’t be useful in a court of law but that could possibly be used to politically incriminate the president.
It would appear that by relying on an intermediary, Mueller was preparing a plausible deniability defense in the event the truth ever came to light. Now it has.
Had Mueller opted to depose Steele directly, and then still pursued the claims of the dossier as though they were the sacred truth, he would’ve abandoned any later claims of having been misled by a third party.
We’ve raised similar questions as to why Mueller never sought to depose Julian Assange about charges he released information damaging to Hillary Clinton under the direction of the Russians.
Instead, in the Wikileaks case, Mueller was content to construct a narrative surrounding Assange and Wikileaks alleged involvement with Russia to be as damaging to President Trump as possible.
To this day, Assange has steadfastly denied any contact with Russia.
Coincidentally, neither Glenn Simpson (Fusion GPS) or Christopher Steele are among the 81 people and entities who received letters from House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler demanding their cooperation:
The tell: The appearance of Julian Assange on this list almost certainly means that Nadler is preparing to abandon the Russian collusion farce and has already began pivoting towards a sweeping, unfounded, harassment of everyone who ever had a cup of coffee with Donald Trump.
Nadler, along with Adam Schiff (House Intelligence Committee) and Elijah Cummings (House Oversight) will pursue these associates of Trump with everything they can manufacture except for one thing. They will pursue them without a predicate for doing so.
It’s the next step in the Democrats’ weaponization of every aspect of government – the IRS, the State Department, the DOJ, the FBI, the CIA, the special prosecutor act, and now the House investigative authorities.
The plan is to keep the anti-Trump propaganda media busy up to and through the 2020 election.
