House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi has made a mockery of her entire legacy with her sham impeachment of President Donald Trump.
She has also made herself looking ridiculous giving rambling speeches, slurring her words and searching for reasons to make impeachment appear to be reasonable, which it is not.
But she took her humiliation to a new plateau this weekend when she appeared on the HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
“Thank you so much for waiting until we got back on the air before starting the impeachment,” he said to the Speaker who was laughing, “that deserves a fist-bump, thank you.”
He then proceeded to fist bump the Speaker who was more than willing to engage in the celebration.
It was a far cry from the claim she made during the impeachment hearings.
In December she appeared on the House floor, dressed in all black, and said that the representatives were gathered “under the dome of this temple of democracy to exercise one of the most solemn powers this body can take: the impeachment of the President of the United States.”
“Very sadly now, our founders’ vision of a republic is under threat from actions from the White House,” she said. “That is why today, as Speaker of the House, I solemnly and sadly open the debate on the impeachment of the President of the United States. If we do not act now, we would be derelict in our duty. It is tragic that the President’s reckless actions make impeachment necessary. He gave us no choice.”
But that is not what she looked like or sounded like when she signed the Articles of Impeachment and handed celebratory pens to her caucus then led the media on a march to the Senate.
Then on Maher’s show she acted like a kid saying “nana nana na na” to the president as she reminded him impeachment is forever.
“You are impeached forever,” she said with a smile. “No matter what the Senate does, it can never be erased.”
“If I knew that the president is listening, I would want him to know that he is impeached forever, and he is impeached forever because he used the office of the president to try to influence a foreign country for his personal and political benefit. In doing so, he undermined our national security, he was disloyal to his oath of office to protect the Constitution and he placed in jeopardy the integrity of our election,” she said. “He gave us no choice.”
But the president is likely to be vindicated in the Senate and it will be Speaker Pelosi’s legacy that is forever tarnished by this sham impeachment.
It is the history books that will show what a one-sided witch hunt the entire investigation was. And it is Pelosi who will forever be stained.
