Democrats are ramming ahead with their plans to impeachment President Donald Trump over a phone call he had back in July with Ukrainian President-elect Zelensky.
Despite the White House releasing the transcript of the call, which shows nothing illegal or impeachable occurred, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still determined to impeach Trump in the Democratic-controlled House.
But Pelosi’s plan has angered Republicans because she has said “no” to holding any actual votes in Congress regarding her impeachment push.
Rather than put it to a vote and make lawmakers go on record to see who supports impeaching Trump, Pelosi is operating in the shadows and allowing her henchman to carry out secret orders to remove the president without a single vote being cast.
This, argues Townhall’s Paul Curry, could be illegal.
Curry wrote in a scathing column, “If Nancy Pelosi were interested in doing things the right way, she would hold a vote on the House floor to open an impeachment inquiry.”
“A vote that was held for the Clinton impeachment inquiry, a vote that was held for the Nixon impeachment inquiry, but a vote that Pelosi refuses to hold today,” he continued, calling out her unprecedented move.
Curry then shifted to the wording of the Constitution itself, which states in Article 1, Section 2, that “the House of Representatives … shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.”
He then validly argues that “the House” is every member, not just the Speaker, or a couple of committee chairman, or even one party — the Constitution is clear that the whole House should be involved.
But we all know why Pelosi is refusing to hold a vote.
“She cannot hold the vote because it would endanger her more moderate members by having them voice their support for overturning an election on partisan grounds,” wrote Curry.
Pelosi is leading House Democrats impeachment efforts against Trump over his call with Zelensky.
A so-called whistleblower filed a complaint alleging that Trump directly asked Zelensky to turn over DNC servers to his administration — but no such request appears in the transcript of the July 25 phone call.
Furthermore, the complaint also claims (1) Trump suggested Zelensky keep his current prosecutor and (2) that a State Department official was on the call between the two leaders.
Newly released reports and information show that both of those claims are also false.
Finally, the complaint alleged Trump was trying to hide the call and didn’t want anyone to know about it.
Congressional Republicans have proven that is also a false claim and that the Trump administration logged the call and followed all protocols.
The whistleblower filed a complaint about a call that they never heard, and Democrats want Trump impeached over a call that they also never heard.
But wait, it gets even better.
The Office of Intelligence Community Inspector General found that the “whistleblower” had a “political bias” in favor of one of Trump’s rivals in the 2020 presidential election.
We now know that person is Joe Biden, meaning the whistleblower — who is a male CIA agent — previously worked with Biden when he was serving as the vice president.
For Democrats, this isn’t about trying to honor the will of the people — it’s quite the opposite.
This is nothing more than a political stunt to defy American voters and those who elected Trump into office back in 2016.
Democrats are attempting to steal that power away from him and the people. And these bogus impeachment charges suggest they are terrified of their chances to defeat Trump in 2020.
