There’s a major power struggle in the Democratic Party regarding who is calling the shots. Some argue it’s House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, others say it’s clearly Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her socialist allies.
After several public spats, Pelosi called for a truce with AOC back in July and said they should handle their disagreements behind closed doors, not in public.
But things just kicked up a notch after Ocasio-Cortez demanded a vote on impeaching President Donald Trump right now — and Pelosi is saying “no.”
Pelosi announced this week that the House will not take a vote to formalize the impeachment inquiry into Trump.
“There’s no requirement that we have a vote,” Pelosi said at a press conference. “So, at this time, we will not be having a vote.”
In other words, Pelosi doesn’t have the votes. If she did, Democrats would have already impeached Trump in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Pelosi is also likely seeing internal polls showing that voters are vehemently against impeaching Trump given there’s no evidence he committed a crime or did anything wrong.
This also comes after Ocasio-Cortez recently demanded a vote on impeaching Trump in the U.S. House of Representatives.
AOC said she wants to “see every Republican go on the record and knowingly vote against impeachment of this president.”
Before that, Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to argue that House Democrats’ unwillingness to impeach Trump is more scandalous than anything the president has done since taking office.
Ocasio-Cortez and other socialist Democrats in the House have practically begged Pelosi to begin impeachment proceedings.
“At this point, the bigger national scandal isn’t the president’s lawbreaking behavior — it is the Democratic Party’s refusal to impeach him for it,” she said in a tweet.

AOC demanding impeachment right now comes as Democrats are trying to investigate Trump over a complaint filed by a so-called whistleblower.
The complaint was filed in August and alleges that Trump directly asked Ukrainian President Zelensky in July to investigate Joe Biden and the Democratic National Committee — but no such request appears in the transcript of the phone call.
The whistleblower filed a complaint about a call that they never heard, and Democrats want Trump impeached over a call that they also never heard.
After an internal investigation following the complaint being filed, the Office of Intelligence Community Inspector General found that the whistleblower had a “political bias” in favor of one of Trump’s rivals in the 2020 presidential election.
We now know that the whistleblower worked with Vice President Joe Biden a few years ago.
AOC wants Trump impeached right now, but Pelosi is not going to put it to a vote in the House.
This is another not-so-subtle reminder to many that Pelosi has completely lost control of her party.
After refusing to take any action against Ocasio-Cortez and her “The Squad,” it’s clear that Pelosi is no longer calling the shots.
Now, the vultures are circling. And soon enough, the entire Democratic Party could be run by socialists.
And Pelosi is the only one to blame for allowing this to happen to her party.
