AOC Says She’ll Back Biden If He’s The Democratic Nominee

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders for president and thinks he is the best candidate to lead the country.

But the New York freshman lawmaker took many by surprise when she revealed that she will support former Vice President Joe Biden if he secures the Democratic nomination over Sanders.

Her comments are striking because she’s been railing against the establishment and members of her own party for not supporting many of her socialist policies, yet she will support Biden, who represents the thing she claims to be against.

During an appearance last week on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Ocasio-Cortez, a campaign surrogate for Sanders, was asked whether she would support Biden if he is the nominee.

“Yeah,” she answered.

“You know, I’ve said throughout this entire process that what is so important is that we ultimately unite behind who that Democratic nominee is. I think it’s a two-way street. I’ve been concerned by some folks that say if Bernie’s the nominee, they won’t support him and the other way around,” he added.

Ocasio-Cortez, who has criticized Biden in the past as being too moderate, said the most important thing about the November election is beating President Donald Trump.

“Right now, November, you know, this is more important than all of us,” she said. “And we really need to make sure that we defeat Donald Trump at the polls — assuming, and knowing, how insane it’s going to get between now and then.”

AOC has bigger issues to worry about, such as whether she will still be a member of Congress next year.

New York is expected to lose a House seat after the 2020 Census, and state Democrats are reportedly looking to draw out Ocasio-Cortez’s district.

A piece from the New York Post details how Ocasio-Cortez’s decision to throw her support behind progressive and far-left candidates has ruffled the feathers of establishment Democrats.

AOC recently announced that seven House candidates will get cash from her Courage to Change PAC, and two of them are challenging incumbents.

That’s right: Ocasio-Cortez and her allies are straight up going after several longtime local Democratic lawmakers.

The NY Post added:

But she may not last in Congress: Already in hot water for refusing to pay dues to her caucus’ fundraising arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, she’s now devoting her resources instead to defeating Democrats.

Don’t be surprised when the established Democrats who’ll control redistricting after the 2020 Census does their best to eliminate her seat.

Reports have suggested that at least a quarter of those living in Ocasio-Cortez’s district are illegal immigrants with no legal right to live in America.

As such, Ocasio-Cortez’s district may ultimately be redrawn and she may be pushed out of her congressional seat.

Assuming her district remains and isn’t drawn out, Ocasio-Cortez is already in big trouble with her own constituents.

A survey from last year polled Democrats in her Bronx-Queens 14th District and found that she’s very vulnerable to a re-election challenge.

The 2020 Census is coming, and it’s becoming increasingly likely that she could be out of office in the very near future.
