House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi is shocked and humiliated by a video that just resurfaced.
In the video, the Speaker lays out the case for not impeaching President Donald Trump, but she did it in the 1990s when it was former President Bill Clinton getting impeached.
Pelosi can be seen in the video flat-out confessing that politicizing impeachment goes against the Constitution — yet that’s what she’s doing right now.
Pelosi was talking to reporters in one scene where she said the words that could be applied to Democrats today.
Fortunately, her confession was caught on camera.
“Right now we have a situation where any and all grievances that anybody ever had with the president are being heaped on and talking about impeachment without even defining what the laws may have been that were broken, with applying the facts to them, without even defining – if even those laws were even broken – if that amounts to an impeachment offense,” she said.
Fast forward to June 2014 and a reporter who asked Pelosi about Republicans, who were in charge of the House, who were pushing for articles of impeachment against former President Obama.
The reporters asked her about the hardline Democrats who had pushed her to impeach former President George W. Bush and why she did not do it.
“It’s not about impeaching the President. It’s about putting the country through that. I thought what the Republicans did to President Clinton was shameful, irresponsible, and wrong for the country. And what he did was stupid, but it had nothing to do with public policy and his office – his responsibility and his office.
“I do think people could have made a case about President Bush, but I didn’t want to go down that path because of what it would mean to the American people. They just tried to impeach – well, we did impeach, but didn’t remove from office – one President in a very irresponsible manner, in my view, on the part of the Republicans in the House at the time. And I thought it was time for us to address – try to end that war, which we voted to do and the President vetoed our bill. But to deal with it on the policy in a policy way rather than take us down that path,” she said.
Rewind again, this time to Dec. 1998 when Rep. Pelosi was Speaking in the House, again against the impeachment of President Clinton.
“Today the Republican majority is not judging the president with fairness but impeaching him with a vengeance. In the investigation of the president, fundamental principles which Americans hold dear, privacy, fairness, checks and balances have been seriously violated.
“And why? We are here today because Republicans in the House are paralyzed with hatred of President Clinton. And until the Republicans free themselves of this hatred, our country will suffer.
“I rise to oppose these unfair motions, which call for removal of the president of the United States from office,” she said.
These precise arguments could be used to argue against the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Democrats have had a vengeance against President Trump from the day he was elected and have wanted to impeach him since then.
What they are doing is what Pelosi warned against decades ago and she know it. She caved the fringe of her party and the nation is paying for it.
But when it comes time for the citizens to vote in 202 it is the Democrats who are going to pay.
