Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has showed her traitorous side again as she has sided against President Donald Trump and expressed sympathy for Iran.
This is a pattern with her, finding fault with America, the land which she came to as a refugee to avoid the struggles in her own nation of Somalia.
But ever since immigrating to The United States, and subsequently getting involved in government, she has had nothing but complaints.
She continued that pattern this week after President Trump ordered the killing of murderous Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
“So what if Trump wants war, knows this leads to war and needs the distraction?” she said in one of her many tweets.
“Real question is, will those with congressional authority step in and stop him? I know I will,” she said.
Some important points about that tweet. Iran was already engaged in a proxy war with us in which they, in many cases led by Soleimani, murdered and maimed hundreds, if not thousands, of American troops and innocent people.
And she talks about stopping the president. How? She has no power nor authority to stop him from protecting American interests.
In fact, neither does Congress. The president has the power to act to stop an attack on Americans at home or abroad.
Congress has not declared war since June 5, 1942 for World War II. Vietnam, Korea and The Gulf War were all fought with no declaration of war from Congress.
To suggest that the President of The United States has to check with Rep. Omar and her cohorts before taking action is ridiculous.
“We are outraged the president would assassinate a foreign official, possibly setting off another war without Congressional authorization and has zero plan to deal with the consequences.,” she said in response to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. “But of course you know that.”
Those words, “assassinate a foreign official” are very important. The word assassinate give the idea that the action taken against the general was illegal.
And to call a murderous terrorist who was planning another attack on Americans “a foreign official” gives him the aura of legitimacy.
These words were not chosen at random. They are part of her mission to make the killing of Gen. Soleimani appear to be an act of war by a reckless president rather than what it was, a necessary action to protect American lives.
“There is no way to overstate how dangerous this is. We need every voice to rise up and demand that Congress stop Trump from starting a catastrophic war with Iran. Sign the petition,” she said with a link to a petition.
If she really wanted a petition that would reach the president, she would have created one on The White House website.
But what she did was use her petition as another scam to get people to join her mailing list so that she is able to fundraise.
That is what Rep. Omar thinks of the lives of American troops. Thank God she has no actual power to stop the president.
