Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before two House committees this week could not have gone worse for him.
But his troubles are far from over after President Donald Trump just revealed one fact that could put Mueller behind bars.
Trump took to Twitter on Thursday to call out Mueller for claiming that he did not apply and interview for the job of FBI Director.
Mueller testified under oath that he did not know he was being considered for the job of FBI Director when he sat down with Trump in the Oval Office in May 2017.
This is significant because Trump says he met with Mueller at the White House for an interview to see if he would nominate him to lead the FBI.
Mueller claims he didn’t know that it was an interview.
Then, just a few days later, Mueller was appointed as the special counsel to lead the Russia investigation.
“I was not applying for that job. I was asked to give my input on what it would take to do the job,” Mueller told lawmakers on Wednesday.
But Trump has a different recollection of the incident, as he explains in a tweet.
“It has been reported that Robert Mueller is saying that he did not apply and interview for the job of FBI Director (and get turned down) the day before he was wrongfully appointed Special Counsel. Hope he doesn’t say that under oath in that we have numerous witnesses to the interview, including the Vice President of the United States!” Trump wrote.
….interview, including the Vice President of the United States!

Trump claims that Mueller did in fact apply and interview for the job before being turned down.
Lying under oath to Congress is a felony.
If Mueller committed perjury, he most certainly could be arrested if lawmakers actually decided to hold him accountable.
So if what Trump is saying is true, Mueller could be in a lot of trouble.
Looking at the bigger picture, Mueller’s entire day before Congress was a total disaster.
He appeared frail, lost, and completely unaware of what his own Russia reported stated.
On countless occasions, Mueller was unable to recall basic information that is detailed in his 420-page final report.
It’s more than clear to many that Mueller’s entire Russia investigation was nothing more than a two-long scam that failed to give Democrats their chance to remove President Donald Trump from office.
Democrats hauled in Mueller as a last ditch effort to keep their Trump-Russia collusion theories alive.
But Mueller’s testimony was bleak, lacked any new information, and the ex-special counsel got caught several times contradicting his own report.
The president has been completely vindicated after the two-year Russia probe, and Mueller didn’t do Democrats any favors with his bizarre and lackluster performance.
And if Trump is telling the truth, it appears that Mueller lied to Congress and could be in serious trouble.
