Fox News host Tucker Carlson was one of the loudest voices against impeachment weeks ago, but now his tune has changed.
The host of the popular primetime show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” now favors impeachment, just not for President Donald Trump.
Carlson cited the abuse of power of Obama appointed Judge Amy Berman Jackson during the Roger Stone trial and said she is not fit to be on the bench.
“Stone’s sentence was delivered by an Obama-appointed judge called Amy Berman Jackson. Now you often hear people complain that our justice system has been infected by politics. Amy Berman Jackson is living proof that it has been,” he said.
He called Jackson an “open partisan who has so flagrantly violated the bounds of constitutional law and fairness that it’s shocking she’s still on the bench.” Carlson said.
He cited her decision o place Rick Gates and Paul Manafort on house as their trials were ongoing even considering that they “are middle-aged men with no criminal history.”
“Jackson wanted to punish Gates and Manafort before they were even convicted of anything, and she did. Ultimately, she revoked Manafort’s bail and placed him in jail in solitary confinement. But Jackson reserved her real fury for Roger Stone,” he said.
“At sentencing today, she declared that Stone was ‘prosecuted for covering up for the president.’ Now, CNN let the claim pass without comment, but anybody who had been watching was baffled because that’s totally untrue.”
“Nobody connected to the president has ever been charged with a crime related to spying for Russia or colluding with Russia, much less convicted of one. Stone wasn’t charged with covering up anything. That was not the charge. That is not what he was sentenced for,” Carlson said.
“Amy Jackson knows that. She lied about it,” he said. “In other words, here you have a federal judge lying about the case before her. Scary? Yes, it is scary.”
The judge sentenced Stone last week to more than three years in prison but he has not yet had to report.
He is currently appealing for a new case after it was discovered that the jury forewoman was a staunch Democrat and anti-Trump online activist.
Considering the implicit bias it appears the judge has, Stone’s legal team has filed a motion for her to be removed from the case.
Even former Democratic Party lawyer David Schoen said on “Fox Nation” that the judge was biased.
“I was shocked with some of the things she said,” he said. “She was very angry. She’s very smart and she knows how to make her record. But she kept on making political statements while disclaiming that this case is not at all about politics.”
